Medical Liability Reform
The nation’s health care system is broken and in a state of
crisis. Skyrocketing insurance premiums are debilitating our health
care system as doctors are being forced to limit their practices,
or leave practice all together, and patients are left with limited
access to necessary medical care. Unfortunately, some of the specialties
serving the sickest and neediest patients have been hit the hardest
by the crisis. Because of unmanageable insurance costs, it is now
common for brain surgeons to no longer perform brain surgery, obstetricians
to no longer deliver babies, orthopaedic specialists to no longer
treat children and for other specialists to no longer provide emergency
call and perform other “high-risk” procedures. Reform
is essential to protecting America’s access to quality, efficient
and timely health care.
