Senator Frist Urges Action on Liability Reform

Senator Bill Frist took the Senate floor on June 17, 2004 to urge his colleagues to take action and debate medical liability reform. Earlier in the week, the state of Massachusetts was added as the 19th "crisis state." Professional liability insurance has risen between 50 to 100 percent in crisis states over the past four years, leaving patients with limited access to specialty medical care as physicians are forced to move, retire or limit their practices.
