W&M Sends Letter to CMS Urging Changes in Physician Payment Formula

The House Ways & Means Committee sent a letter to CMS Administrator Mark McClellan urging the adminstration to remove outpatient drugs from the physician payment pool, an action the Alliance strongly supports. Removing the outpatient drugs retrospectively would almost single-handedly prevent the physician payment cuts that will begin on January 1, 2006. If action is not taken, physician Medicare payment will be cut more than 25 percent between 2006-2012.
