Senators Send Letter to Administration
Action Needed to Prevent Payment Cuts
7/26/2005
Almost 90 U.S. Senators sent a letter to the Bush Administration urging action to prevent the scheduled Medicare physician payment cuts. Under the current SGR formula, physicians will be cut by over 25 percent over the next six years. The Senators urged the Adminstration to make changes to the formula, including removing outpatient drugs from the costs allocated to physicians. Making these changes would reduce the costs associated with repealing the SGR, action the Alliance supports.
