Alliance Sends Health Care Reform Feedback to President Obama

The Alliance sent a letter to President Barack Obama providing feedback on the compromise health care bill expected to be the starting point for compromise discussions at the upcoming bipartisan health care reform summit. The White House has stated that President Obama will moderate the February 25th meeting that will include congressional leaders from both parties.

The Alliance is concerned with health care reform proposals that would create an Independent Medicare Advisory Board, as it would focus solely in cutting costs and lack proper oversight and clinical expertise. Additionally, the Alliance urged the President to address the Medicare physician reimbursement crisis with a fair and long-term reimbursement model. The letter also includes feedback on comparative effectiveness research language and provisions that cover quality, and medical liability reform.
